Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio.
During the second hour, Carmichael read through the Black Lives Matter demands as posted on their website and compared it to the United States Bill of Rights as read by Leahy. The men concluded that their demands resemble that of a socialist-Marxist agenda.
Leahy: We are joined now as we always are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at this time by our good friend and the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael. Good morning Crom.
Carmichael: Good morning Michael. How are you, sir?
Leahy: I’m great. We are almost through 2020. It’s been 10 years packed into five months and 20 some odd days.
Carmichael: A couple of things kind of popped up. One is I don’t know if you saw the story that Remdesivir is going to charge $3,000. for their medication.
Leahy: For a single dose?
Carmichael: Well that’s for a COVID patient. You are not sick very long. So think about that. $3,000. versus hydroxychloroquine.
Leahy: Which is what, five bucks?
Carmichael: A few bucks. So that gives us some indication of why there is so much media push back against something that is cheap. While I don’t have any hard evidence I’m applying logic to what’s going on here. It’s really quite terrible because if the individual had to pay it then the individual would rise up.
But the individual’s don’t. It’s the insurance companies that pay it. This gets back to where Trump is requiring hospitals, and so far he’s won, to provide in advance and to provide publicly how they charge and what their deal is with insurance companies ahead of time.
The hospital association said that it was their freedom of speech to not talk. In other words, to hide and keep their relationship with insurance companies and pricing opaque. So this is more of the same cronyism swamp type stuff that Trump is doing the best he can to battle. He has very few allies in Washington.
Leahy: Very few.
Carmichael: I mean very very few real allies. As we’ve pointed out before, only four percent of the people who live inside the District of Columbia voted for Trump. Only four percent. So consequently he’s up there battling a bureaucracy that’s like Medusa where you cut off one head and up pops 10 more.
Leahy: It’s half a century of growth.
Carmichael: It really is. Then laws that have been passed to protect the people who are essentially destroying our way of life. And its really quite distressing to watch that. On kind of a similar matter in terms of the swamp. We are learning more as we go along about Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter is not about prison reform.
You can go to their website. They’ve raised 340 million dollars. When you punch the button to give, most of that money is going to Democratic candidates. What I don’t know if you give 100 thousand dollars to Black Lives Matter is a single gift. Or a single contribution and it’s not tax-deductible. You can’t deduct it. Are they allowed to just take that money and give $100,000 to a single candidate if they chose too?
Leahy: I think there are a lot of ways that you can organize your corporate structure so that money goes from one group to another and to another and ends up being given legally according to our current laws. I think they can yes.
Carmichael: Unethically but legally. The goal of the left was to have laws that they could essentially skirt.
Leahy: Right.
Carmichael: Here are Black Lives Matter’s demands.
Leahy: How many of them are there?
Carmichael: There are 10 of them.
Leahy: 10!
Leahy: Sort of like our Bill of Rights.
Carmichael: Yes. 10 amendments. Let’s compare if we could. The first one is reparations. So our first amendment protects five individual rights. This is reparations. The second one is no bail. (Leahy chuckles) So if you get arrested you get out. No matter what you do. No matter what crime you commit they want no bail. Number three. They want to release all prostitutes from jail. What’s our third amendment?
Leahy: Soldiers cannot be quartered in houses without permission.
Carmichael: OK. (Chuckles) Number four is no death penalty no matter what you do. There is no death penalty.
Leahy: Our fourth amendment is to be secure in their persons houses, papers in effect against unreasonable searches, and seizures should not be violated.
Carmichael: And number five, free education and the sub-note of that is there can be no private schools in K-12. They ban private schools.
Leahy: They ban private schools?
Carmichael: They ban private schools. Under their plan free education with no private schools.
Leahy: Are you kidding me?
Carmichael: No. I’m not kidding you.
Leahy: Wow. Our fifth amendment no person or otherwise infamous crime unless on a presentment of or indictment of a grand jury. There is other elements in that.
Carmichael: Number six. Free healthcare. That’s number six.
Leahy: Our sixth amendment in the Bill of Rights guarantees the personal right that in criminal prosecutions the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury of peers.
Carmichael: Number seven. No police.
Leahy: No police!
Carmichael: No police. So defund the police. That’s number seven.
Leahy: The Bill of Rights in suits with common law with a value in controversy shall exceed $20.00 the right of a trial by jury shall be preserved.
Carmichael: You’ve got to give these guys credit. Their sentences are shorter. (Leahy laughs) Number eight. Cut the military budget.
Leahy: OK. The Bill of Rights in contrast says excessive bail shall not be required nor excessive fines imposed nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted.
Carmichael: Number nine, redistribute the wealth.
Leahy: (Laughs) Our ninth amendment says an enumeration in the constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
Carmichael: And number 10. Publicly financed campaigns.
Leahy: In the Bill of Rights the 10th amendment says the powers not delegated by the United States by the Constitution nor prohibited by and to the states are reserved to the states respectively or to the people.
Carmichael: Yes. So somebody needs to explain how these 10 plans are supposed to improve the lives of Black people. Or even save more Black people’s lives. To me, it does exactly the opposite. In both regards, it diminishes the possibility of success and it absolutely will increase the amount of crime within their own communities. Because we are already seeing the evidence of the pull back of police. We are seeing the increase of shootings and murder rates by the criminals who lorded over many of the communities where Black people live.
Leahy: This is basically a socialist-Marxist agenda from Black Lives Matter.
Carmichael: Yes.
Leahy: And by the way just so you know you’ll be delighted to learn that the head of Catholic Charities in Washington has fallen down on his knees and begged forgiveness because Catholic Charities according to him is racist.
Of course, we saw all of the self-interested wealthy people in sports who are now protecting themselves by basically saying I’m in favor of all these 10 things by Black Lives Matter. The latest to do that is coach Mike K. or however you pronounce his name at Duke.
Carmichael: Krzyzewski.
Leahy: Krzyzewski.
Carmichael: It doesn’t sound like it spells. Coach K.
Leahy: Coach K and said, of course, there is systemic racism in the United States. I support Black Lives Matter. Apparently he supports these 10 socialist-Marxist agenda items to protect himself.
Carmichael: These are people who are just ignorant. Krzyzewski is a great basket ball coach.
Leahy: He is. But he’s ignorant about public policy.
Carmichael: I’m sure he is a very fine person. I’m absolutely certain of that.
Leahy: But he’s ignorant.
Carmichel: He’s ignorant of what Black Lives Matter stands for.
Leahy: He’s in favor of Black Lives Matter and of the socialist-Marxist agenda that you just identified.
Carmichael: This is what Black Lives Matter says they are for and not what we say Black Lives Matter is for.
